(cross-posted to RSS-DEV due to relevance -- apologies in advance)

I agree. After a good night's sleep and some thoughtful reading of this
morning's posts I recant my previous position and throw my hat in for
renaming. If that's the only barrier to this process I'll shut the hell up
on the issue. Far better to move forward than to stand in the way of
progress, and I definitely don't want to do that.

Not that it matters much, but at least there'll be one less person arguing
against it.

What the hell, it's just a name, right?

I say we do this in two steps:

	1. Agree (vote) to rename RSS 1.0 to something other than RSS
	2. Agree (vote) on a new name selected from a series of candidates
provided by list members.

#2 is the fun part, but I think the time is right for us to vote on #1.
Guess this should actually happen on RSS-DEV, so I'll go ahead and
cross-post there.

Looking at the group archives there were a couple of relevant polls, but
only one addressed the issue itself:

	http://groups.yahoo.com/group/syndication/surveys?id=367722 (18 Oct
2000)

100% of 3 votes went for renaming RSS 1.0 -- this is hardly a consensus,
unless there were only three people on the list when the vote was cast.

On RSS-DEV there were similar votes:

11 for renaming to xRSS vs 11 against (18 Oct 2000)
	http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rss-dev/surveys?id=368260

I think it's time to hold another. Again, assume it's best on the RSS-DEV
list.

Suggest as choices:

	* Rename RSS 1.0 to another name, to be decided in a future poll
	* Do not rename RSS 1.0 at this time
	* I Abstain

Thoughts?
