I agree with this idea wholeheartedly, and have likewise felt this way for
some time. This provides tons of options.

"RSS-Simple" and "RSS-Expanded" jump out to me as the obvious name choices.
But that's just me.

I personally like the idea you put forth in your previous message
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/syndication/message/1662) of altering the
original RSS 0.91 spec to use namespaces instead of version numbers. This
would be an incredibly elegant solution, though I understand your preference
for RDF -- the more I see the more I realize it can be extremely powerful,
though currently I personally have zero use for it's capabilities.

I wonder if the RSS 0.9x side would consider making this minor change to the
spec? I don't see why we can't have an extensible RSS-Simple and a
full-blown RDF-based RSS-Expanded set.

As Dave Winer might say, this fosters choice and competition, both of which
are a Good Thing.  ;)
