DI is a "Content Delivery Network" - they have a lot of servers out in the 
network that act as Surrogates, aka "Reverse Proxies". Basically, they make the 
Web go faster, by putting content closer to end users, and getting paid by the 
content providers.

disclosure: I work for Akamai right now; Akamai is a competing CDN. 

One of the intersesting tasks in running a CDN is getting content into the CDN, 
and giving the customers control over how the resources are served. DRM 
(Digital Rights Management) is one aspect of this; there have been a lot of 
alliances announced between DRM and CDN players. Unfortunately, there isn't 
much movement towards standards in the DRM industry, AFAIK.

Syndication is another potential area of interest for CDNs, obviously, but 
getting the details down is something that's still happening. From reading it, 
I don't *think* the DI effort is directly related to syndication, but it shares 
some aspects of it.
