Good points, every one of them. Maybe this is just one of those problems
that "You could do this, but then this; this but then that; that but
then this" that doesn't have an optimal solution.
So I'll turn it back on you. When I've clicked the XML button and am
viewing the XML source, what do I do next? I picked "Jake's Brainpan" at
random. There's Jake's email, web home page URL, an image URL, copyright
notice and such like, but I can't see an RSS file location anywhere that
I can just cut and paste into my favourite aggregator.
Say I'm running an Extreme Sports news site. I produce an RSS file. The
best I can think of is to put an RSS button on the front page in a
little section explaining it and have the button linked to the file.
Just below that I'd put the URL in tiny text and a link to an HTML
representation of the file. Then clever people can right click, copy
shortcut, paste, into their favourite aggregator.
