On the part about people thinking they need to understand RDF to use
RSS, I think that does stem from the RSS1.0 proposal making such a
heavy emphasis that RSS1.0 uses/supports RDF and somehow RDF knowledge
is required to support RSS. That isn't necessary. RSS1.0 is about
RSS, the authors could have/can put RDF compatibility notes ("RSS does
these things so that RDF tools can interpret RSS files: ...") in an
appendix and had the same level of RDF support.
