News Industry Unveils NewsML Net Language

"The standard, called NewsML, is based on eXtensible Markup Language,
or XML, and structures multimedia news so it can be delivered to
devices ranging from PCs to mobile phones.

The International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) said in a
statement it was launching the first test version of NewsML and
planned officially to approve the new language in October."
