Re: [syndication] Re: [rss] [2000-05-11] RSSx "Straw-Man" (repost)
There were some discussions of desireable features on this list early on;
see the archives. Not saying they're complete, but a starting point.
Dave, I'm very busy with other things now, and haven't had time to give your
doc proper consideration, but wanted to give a few off-the-cuff thoughts
that you can do with as you will;
* Is this truely a cleanup of RSS 0.91, with *no* changes? If there are any
syntactic changes, it needs to be another version. Rather than making it a
"userland specification" as you did with XML-RPC, why not format it as an
I-D (this one would be a BCP) or a W3C note, and submit when ready?
* A DTD would be very nice; it's easier for (some) people to digest. I'll be
happy to do this if noone else is willing.
* For the language codes, you should probably reference the appropriate
document (RFC1766, ISO639), rather than listing them here.
I think it's a good idea to establish best current practice for RSS quickly,
and move on to work on the next version that everyone wants so badly.
