Announce: xmlTree News Boy

At xmlTree we are working on supporting XML-based portals and headline viewer developers,
by directing visitors to them once they have found a news or weblog channel that they find
interesting. These outgoing links should appear over the next month.

But in the meantime, we've created a delivery service called News Boy, where anyone can
sign up to have the channels of their choice delivered free by HTML-formatted email (plain
text to follow), retaining the icon / branding of the news provider / weblog author. For
the provider, we'll also provide a monthly report of the email addresses of the
subscribers to their content (we think this seems fair).

Some providers (such as Moreover.com) need to retain control over the links used in their
stories. We respect these and make no changes to the content or the links. We benefit
the provider by increasing the number of viewers of their content, and driving traffic
back to their site (or where their links lead to).

We access the content once per day (around midnight GMT) and only generate emails to
subscribers if the last-modified date is within 24 hours or unknown. At the moment there
are 948 channel available. We expect this to continue to rise as more weblog editing
facilities come on-line.

For an example, subscribe to xml.com at
http://www.xmltree.com/resource/detail.cfm/DDC/005.7/ResourceID/212

As usual, all feedback is welcomed and acted upon (in particular any burning disagreement
about what we are doing!). This facility is not yet publicised beyond this Syndication
list.

Best regards,
James Carlyle
