I would also add that whatever is supported in Mozilla will likely be the
next de-facto standard for syndication. Whether it's a single format or
collection of formats, if Mozilla handles feeds well (makes them easy to
retrieve, easy to add to a user-configurable aggregator, handles
authentication to personal news portals like NewsIsFree, etc) this will be
the model to which other clients will be compared.
