Cooperatively redirecting feed items?

Hi all,

Has there been a discussion of a way to extract a single item from an 
aggregator in it's XML format?

What I'm after is a way, using a URL, to have an aggregator hand me a 
single item.  A perma-link of sorts but not one that's intended for 
human readability. 

The point here being to extract an XML rendering of the item for 
aggregation elsewhere.  Using just the scraped text has it's merits 
but it would lose considerable amounts of data 'behind the scenes'.

Taking this one step further would allow the presentation of this URL 
on a web page and have the client browser understand how to 'extract' 
that XML data for routing elsewhere.

Yes, you can do this will cut and paste but as I mentioned, it tends 
to lose all sorts of information like the author, creation time, 
source, etc.
