Weblog 2.0 - experimental platform for RSS 1.0
All,
I don't think I mentioned it on the list, but I recently released a new
version of an experimental platform that I've been working on that
utilizes some of the RSS modules. It's a step in the right direction to
demonstrating the flexibility and usefulness if RSS 1.0. Of course, RSS
1.0 is not everyone's cup of tea, but it's an interesting application
anyway.
The main hook that might be of interest is the use of the taxonomy
module to link to categories in a Web directory. The software is being
used on a few Internet.com sites for managing content channels.
The latest distro is part of a tutorial
http://www.webreference.com/perl/tutorial/22/. Goto the bottom of the
page and click on "Download tutorial 22".
You can see the software in action at
http://www.textant.com/weblog/bin/weblog. It can manage multiple
channels, but there's only the default channel @ textant.com.
Also, if you haven't read it yet, Andy King wrote a great unbiased
(IMHO) article on the evolution of RSS at
http://www.webreference.com/authoring/languages/xml/rss/1/.
