RSS 0.91's Future
Hi All,
I've been thinking about the whole RSS naming issue lately, and I'm yet to
really reach any brilliant conclusions but I thought I'd break my silence
with a question.
If RSS ceases development at RSS 0.91, regardless of whether RSS 0.92+/ RSS
1.0+ are called RSS-Something or something else altogether, what happens if
RSS 0.91 needs changes?
I'm not talking further development of RSS 0.91 but just the stuff that
makes logical sense and needs doing.
e.g. Domain names can now be 600 letters long but RSS 0.91 <link> only
allows 500 characters for a URL.
I know it is a silly example but what I'm saying is, shouldn't there be some
group that would keep RSS 0.91 working? If there isn't and something like
my example happens then the simple RSS 0.91 we want to save could end up
dead because we all agreed to leave it be.
