RE: [syndication] Re: New poll for syndication

Not at all.

Already been done: http://www.xmlnews.org
Created/pushed/etc by major publishers, at least from the looks of it.
Besides, RSS 1.0 need not constrain itself to just news headlines. I use a
bastardized version of it to syndicate for a web-based calendar. James Shaw
proposed the Further Reading module to allow a single RSS 1.0 file to
contain pointers to other RSS 1.0 files, which in turn could point to still
more RSS 1.0 files. The software would be able to follow this chain and
gather all resources referenced. His rationale is indexing all articles on a
development site, for instance, which is exactly what he does and needs.
RSS 1.0 modularity is a really cool idea. It has a lot in common with music
-- some of the coolest music you ever hear never really fits into an
established genre. Nowadays everything is lumped under "Alternative" since
they quit trying to label everything individually.
(Of course now even "Alternative" has it's own sound, so is ther an
"Alternative"-alternative?)
Hope this helps,
