I've been thinking of that as well - there are other people doing the same
sort of thing - at the very least, the "of the day" crap isn't necessarily
news. Taking that into consideration, dictionary.com publishes a
non-newsfeed RSS file:
http://www.dictionary.com/wordoftheday/wotd.rss
There are also other sites that provide hotel listings, again, not
technically newsy types of things. So, yeah, I say, go for it for recipe
listings.
Hell, there could be lesson planners, even calendar type of applications
(like site.com/12/02/day.rss, and site.com/04/25/hourly.rss)...
