Re: [syndication] New poll for syndication
Would have to agree with Tristan it is moot to discuss if a fork should
happen. By the same token to rename both squanders the goodwill associated
with the RSS name. In the past I suggested that the .9x fork be RSS and the
1.0 fork be XRSS ala HTML/XHTML. But had my tongue-in-cheek remarks (.9x
being pure and simple) being the focus of responses. I understand that there
are folks in the 1.0 group who feel that they would be giving up the RSS
name when they get nothing in return for their early work on RSS but feel we
must agree to disagree and move forward. The rss-dev community may win the
battle by refusing to give up the RSS name (as is their right I believe) but
may limit their ultimate success/growth by allowing this in-fighting to
continue. I need namespace/rdf/dc but more importantly I need a critical
mass of adopters of RSS of all flavors. The inability for both groups to
unite and come to an agreement on the fork/name etc. issues is a governor
slowing the entire rss effort.
