a) The spec doesn't need a rewrite to add an optional element.

b) You haven't even *tried* to get consensus. I want to know what's so bad
about consensus.

c) You want bloat? Try figuring out what the tag for author of an item is
when it might be on one of 134 different websites.

Anyway, I'm not standing in your way.

Go for it, if it works great.
